About
Julia Perez Tooker is a crossover soprano and 2026 Vocal Performance graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where she studied under Kathryn Cowdrick. Raised in Rochester, New York, she began her classical voice training at the Eastman Community Music School at the age of thirteen. She has a passion for exploring her Puerto Rican heritage through music, most recently as a featured Bolero soloist at the Rochester Latino Theatre Company's Hispanic Heritage Events. Equally at home on the operatic stage and in musical theatre, she has performed leading roles ranging from Christine in The Phantom of the Opera and Cosette in Les Misérables to Jeanette in The Anonymous Lover. Julia is a first-place winner in competitions spanning musical theatre, classical, and opera aria categories, and made her professional opera debut in 2025 as an Apprentice Artist with Finger Lakes Opera.
