About
Julia Tooker is a Puerto Rican-American crossover soprano and May 2026 Vocal Performance graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where she studied under Kathryn Cowdrick. Raised in Rochester, New York and immersed in diverse musical traditions from an early age — including Puerto Rican holiday parrandas with her family — Julia began her classical voice training at thirteen with Diane Abrahamian at the Eastman Community Music School.

Her versatility has been recognized through first-place awards spanning musical theatre, classical, and opera aria categories — including Classical Singer, Schmidt Vocal Arts, American Protégé, and American Virtuoso International. In 2025, Julia made her professional opera debut as an Apprentice Artist with Finger Lakes Opera, performing as Jeannette in The Anonymous Lover and The Page in Rigoletto.
She made her Broadway cabaret debut in 2023 as a Rising Star at Ben Cameron's Broadway Sessions at The Green Room 42 in New York City. Julia also explores Spanish classical repertoire and has performed as a featured soloist at Rochester Latino Theatre Company's Hispanic Heritage Events.
